The SCQF is a partnership between the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), College Development Network, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and Universities Scotland
PROGRESSION
In the UK, qualifications at this level are broadly equivalent to the first year of a Bachelors (Hons) degree. Therefore, learners can also use this qualification to progress on to gaining higher qualifications in a relevant field.
Learners studying for the Diploma in Business Skills (DBS) (SCQF Level 7) may progress to the Diploma in Business and Marketing Management (DBMM).
Holders of EduQual SCQF credit-rated Diplomas can ‘top-up’ to Degrees awarded by many British and international universities, including, but not limited to:

THE AWARD
The Diploma in Business Skills (DBS) SCQF level 7 consists of eight (8) short single unit Awards in soft-skills, including business etiquette, people skills, self-awareness and communication skills, as well as more traditional qualifications in Business, Finance and IT.
Completion of all eight individual Awards entitles the learner to the full Diploma in Business Skills award, a qualification which is SCQF credit-rated.
Each unit can also be a standalone award.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants need not have any previous formal college/university qualification to enrol on this programme. However, an applicant is required to have a minimum Leaving Certificate or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and at least two years’ work experience.

TEACHING, LEARNING, ASSESSMENTS
Teaching and learning will be undertaken 100% online through tutor-supported study, lectures, seminars and tutorials. Learners will be encouraged to develop their skills in self-directed learning, which will take place outside the formal classroom environment. Formative assessments will arise through projects, case studies, research and testing, wherever appropriate.
Summative assessment will be through responses to assignments enabling learners to demonstrate their understanding of the subjects they have studied.
There is no exam for this programme. Assessment of all learning outcomes will be via assignments, presentations and/or projects.
PROGRAMME DURATION
Typically, completion of this course takes 6 -9 months. However, learners may decide to study at their own pace, which my either shorten or lengthen completion time.

Each unit is made up of 5 credits and learners are required to complete a total of 40 credits in order to receive their diploma. A learner will, on average, need 50 hours (incl. class time, self-study and assessment) to complete each of the 8 units of this programme.
